Qualifications
MBBS, MD, FRACS (Paediatrics)
Mr Clarnette graduated from the University of Adelaide Medical School in 1988. He completed his surgical training in South Australia and Victoria, followed by approximately three and a half years of post-fellowship training in the United Kingdom — including eighteen months at King's College Hospital, London, where he focused on paediatric hepatobiliary surgery.
Sub-specialty
Mr Clarnette's principal clinical interest is paediatric hepatobiliary surgery — operations on the liver, gallbladder and biliary tract in children, from neonates through to adolescents. He performs the majority of paediatric hepatobiliary surgery in Melbourne and across Victoria.

Hospital appointments
Mr Clarnette has been a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at The Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne since 2004, and also consults and operates at Monash Children's Hospital, Sunshine Hospital and Goulburn Valley Health in Shepparton. His private practice is based at Cabrini Hospital, Malvern and Northpark Private Hospital, Bundoora.
